Teaser Tuesday: Valkyrie Rising

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should be Reading.  Anyone can play along!  Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read.
  • Open to a random page.
  • Share two "teaser" sentences from somewhere on that page.
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS!
  • Share the title & author, too, so that others can add the book to their TBR lists!

This week's teaser comes from Ingrid Paulson's debut, Valkyrie Rising.

"The ringleader looked at me, and the anger drained from his face.  His pupils had that filmy, distant quality I was beginning to know far too well.  He took a step back, and his friends and Margit followed suit." ~pg. 153

This week's teaser comes from Melissa Jensen's The Fine Art of Truth or Dare.

"In another story, the plucky little heroine would have slapped both hands onto the table, making it wobble a little on its predictably uneven fourth leg.  She would then have taken both hands, ripped the long scarf from around her neck and, chin high and scar spotlit, stalked to the dais, leaped up, and slayed the audience with her kick-ass version of 'Respect.'  Or maybe 'Single Ladies,' for the sheer Yay factor." ~pg 146.

This week's teaser comes from Leigh Bardugo's Shadow and Bone.

"The Darkling had said little to me since that night in the barn, and he's given me no idea what I might expect once we arrived. But I didn't have the nerve or the energy to run after him, so I meekly followed the woman in gray through another pair of double doors and into one of the smaller towers." ~ p. 87 Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

Teaser Tuesday: Raised by Wolves

This week's teaser comes from Jennifer Lynn Barnes' Raised by Wolves, and I think it's a fitting book to read during the month of October.  Werewolves are definitely part of this season and Halloween is just around the corner.

"I recognized the madness, saw him losing control, bit by bit and piece by piece, and I remembered what I'd done to Devon when I'd lost myself to a similar directive.  When I'd been trapped with nowhere else to go."

Teaser Tuesday: One Amazing Thing

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

~Grab your current read.
~Open to a random page.
~Share two "teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page.
~BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! ~Share the title & author, too, so that others can add the book to their TBR Lists!

This is my first time participating in Teaser Tuesday, and my teaser is from Chitra Divakaruni's One Amazing Thing.  As part of the "Gulf Coast Reads" reading initiative, my library system's book clubs are joining many other communities to come together to read and discuss one book.  The author so happens to be a native to this area, which makes it even more exciting for our Book Clubs.  ^_^  I'm enjoying it thoroughly and can't wait to meet the author herself in October at a meeting at my library.

"When I failed tenth grade for the second time, my parents figured it was no use wasting more money on my school fees and decided to marry me off.  I had no objections; it was not as though I had anything else to do."

~ p. 109, One Amazing Thing by Chitra Divakaruni
